The Ministry for European Integration stated that a meeting of the Special Working Group of the Government of Serbia was held today, which was established to prepare an application for the EU Solidarity Fund.
The working group was chaired by Minister for European Integration and National IPA Coordinator Jadranka Joksimovic.
The first draft of the application was presented at the meeting, which will describe the course of the epidemic, the measures and activities taken to prevent the spread of the infection and list the public costs incurred as a result of their implementation.
In case the European Commission approves financial support to the Republic of Serbia, these funds would cover a part of the total costs that Serbia has had in the period of four months since taking the first activities aimed at curbing COVID-19.
Joksimovic explained that the possibility of applying for additional funds from this fund is another proof of solidarity of the EU with the citizens of Serbia and a very concrete benefit from the EU accession process.
Tomorrow, the Minister for European Integration will send a letter to Commissioner for Regional Policy Elisa Ferreira, who is also in charge of managing the Solidarity Fund, with a description of the situation and measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19.
