Speaking at an international conference “The world after coronavirus”, held as part of initiative "Belgrade Strategic Dialogue”, which is the first panel on geopolitical consequences of the pandemic, Brnabic noted that these will be dramatic changes where it will be seen whether the world will continue with globalism or not and whether multilateralism survives and in which form.
She added that other changes will be in the role of certain countries as the leaders of a new world order.
We still don’t live in the time after coronavirus as the virus is still present and a lot more time will have passed until we see how the world will look in terms of geopolitics after the pandemic. We will wait for the period of economic recovery, the Prime Minister pointed out.
The European continent changed in almost a day, she said and recalled that the EU countries have been under great pressure and had many victims.
Brnabic underlined that Serbia was more hit emotionally than financially by the decision of the EU to close borders for the export of medical equipment and that that was surely a signal that will resound in this area for some more time, in the countries aspiring to membership in the EU.
That was not the happiest moment to make politically better-thought-out decisions, but they should still have thought about what kind of signal they were sending to the countries that want to become EU members, the Prime Minister underlined.
She announced that Serbia will invest much more in biotechnology and noted that that will be a new focus of interest of all “smart” states.
Serbia is small and it cannot be compared with the EU and some developed countries, but I think we have the knowledge, potential and resources, the Prime Minister underlined.
