Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today during a tour of reconstruction works at the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina in Novi Sad that the situation regarding coronavirus in Vojvodina is almost completely calm and stable.
Brnabic said that yesterday there were no new coronavirus cases registered in Novi Sad and that, with the exception of Leskovac, Vranje, southern Serbia, where there are some outbreaks, the rest of Serbia is completely calm.
She added that the percentage of infections in Belgrade is between one and two percents and that the situation is not worrying, and that it is continuously monitored.
According to Brnabic, new cases are expected today at the Yura Corporation in Leskovac and the fight over local hotspots still continues.
The Prime Minister stated that an increase in the number of coronavirus cases is expected as restrictions are being relaxed and that is not a reason for worry as the situation is being monitored.
Serbia still tests a huge number of people on a daily basis. If we didn't have so many people tested, we wouldn't have so many registered cases either. Most countries no longer test people without symptoms and they probably also have a larger number of those infected, Brnabic said.
The state has not hid any data on those infected and those who died in Serbia at any moment, she underlined and dismissed as false and frivolous the unofficial information on the allegedly higher number of fatalities from coronavirus than reported.
The decision on entry into Serbia without a PCR test, which the government is expected to make today, is a recommendation from experts and is not politically motivated, the Prime Minister stated and added that she does not expect a lot of entries as the borders with the EU are not open.
She also noted that decisions are changed in relation to how they prove to function in practice.
We don't run away from that. We make decisions and monitor whether they give the desired effect or not and whether we keep the health situation under control. The most important is the health of the citizens and that the economy doesn't suffer, Brnabic concluded.
