Appeal to citizens to adhere to all prevention, precautionary measures

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that precautionary measures and prevention measures remain in force, although the movement ban has been lifted, and emphasised that from now on the personal responsibility of citizens is most important in the fight against coronavirus.

Brnabic said in a statement to Television Prva that the measures will change from week to week, in line with the number of newly discovered cases of coronavirus, and urged citizens to continue to respect physical distance measures, use protective masks and other means, and keep contacts to a minimum.

The ban on gatherings will still be in force, and in case of violation of that measure, as before, members of the Ministry of the Interior will react, she said, emphasising that there is no intention to punish people and file criminal charges against them, but it is important that we all have the personal awareness and responsibility to protect our own and the health of the nation when there are no restrictive measures.

She said that the government of Serbia will try to improve communication with the public through the media, the website of the government of Serbia and covid19.rs in order to be in the service of citizens.

The health of the nation is largely preserved, Brnabic stressed, noting that continued testing and monitoring of the situation on the ground continues, based on which prevention measures will be adjusted.

With the hope that the relaxation measures will continue, we have launched an epidemiological study and expect to have our first antibody tests to be produced by the Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy at the end of this month or the beginning of next month, she announced, noting that the Institute for molecular genetics is working on the formation of a genetic biobank.

She stressed that both crisis response teams are continuing their work, noting that the medical team will meet less frequently and will continue to operate over the summer so that we are ready for the second wave in the fall, if there is one.
