Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said that since the last report until 15.00 today, 5,906 people were tested, of whom 196 were positive, increasing the total number of infected to 9,205, while six died.
Kon said at a regular press conference at the Palace of Serbia that 2,375 patients have been hospitalised to date, with 65 suffering from respiratory disease.
A total of 91,551 persons were tested, he said, adding that six of the deceased include two men and four women.
In our country, a total of 185 people have died since the outbreak of the epidemic, 113 males and 72 females, with a mortality rate of 2.01%.
Kon indicated that 3.3% of the total tested are positive for the virus, which shows a reduced circulation of the virus.
Asked how many antibodies we have as a population and whether he thinks many more people have acquired immunity, he said the only way to determine is testing, announcing that in May an orientation study would be conducted on 7,000 families.
A large study will be made of about 70,000 tested over the summer, in July and August, Kon said, adding that then we will know what the immunity status is in the population.
Immunologist Srdja Jankovic said that we need to be aware that if we allow gatherings and if we come in close contact in greater numbers, we are jeopardising all that has been achieved so far.
If we went to gain collective immunity earlier, it would cause a great loss in human lives, Jankovic said, adding that now we cannot rely on such collective immunity but on further measures.
