Norway, EU donate medical supplies

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today attended the reception of medical equipment from Norway, together with First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Norwegian Ambassador to Serbia Jorn Gjelstad and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi.

Vucic expressed gratitude to Norway and the EU for donations in medical supplies to the Serbian health system, saying that this assistance will significantly contribute to improving the capacity of health care institutions in the interior of the country to cope not only with the effects of coronavirus, but with other diseases too.

He specified that the donation of Norway to Serbia includes 120 medical ventilators and 100 clinical monitors, noting that 50 ventilators and 100 monitors have arrived today, whereas another 70 ventilators will arrive later.

Gjelstad expressed satisfaction with the fact that Norway helped Serbia in the first phase of the outbreak, describing it as a momentary act of solidarity, deeply rooted in the long-lasting friendship between our two peoples.

Fabrizi underlined that the EU has been with Serbia since day one of this battle, and recalled that the first contract was signed with Serbia on 20 March, under which the EU has so far covered the cost of transport of 12 cargo planes, which delivered 500 tons of equipment.
