Kisic Tepavcevic said at a regular press conference at the Palace of Serbia that a total of 2,470 patients were hospitalized, 78 patients are using ventilators, and a total of 78,942 were tested.
She noted that in the last 24 hours, five more died as a result of coronavirus infection, with three males and two females, adding that the mortality rate is 1.98.
In our country, since the beginning of the epidemic, 39 people no longer use ventilation, 1,292 patients have been completely cured, while a total of 173 people have died, added Tepavcevic Kisic.
The highest number of infected people in Belgrade is 2,122 people, which is 27.38% of the total number, and 1,189 people in Nis, or 15.34%, she said, adding that other cities with more than 100 confirmed cases are Cuprija, Leskovac, Krusevac. Valjevo, Aleksinac, Paracin, Jagodina, Bor, Prokuplje, Smederevo and Novi Sad.
In these cities, the share of infected people is in the range of 1-2%, added Tepavcevic Kisic.
Coronavirus has been confirmed in almost all cities of our country, but those are sporadic cases.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon pointed out that fewer people are using the ventilation and fewer number of hospitalised patients indicate that the situation is calming down.
Epidemiologically, it is very good that the virus is on the decrease in larger cities, where population density is higher and where there are more contacts, Kon said.
He added that the virus still survives in smaller towns, especially in the gerontological centres where users are particularly vulnerable.
According to him, in major cities there are mostly cases without symptoms, which means that its circulation is scarce.
