Collaboration with WHO to combat COVID-19 epidemic

Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic spoke with Marijan Ivanus, Head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Office in Serbia, on cooperation and assistance to our country in combating the COVID-19 infectious disease.

The officials discussed the implementation of the most appropriate measures and activities for the prevention and control of infection in social care institutions, which ensure the stay and care of various vulnerable population groups, including the elderly.

Ivanus was presented with all measures and activities undertaken by the Ministry since the appearance of the first registered cases of COVID-19 in Serbia, which aim to prevent the spread of this disease in social care institutions.

At the suggestion of Minister Djordjevic, the World Health Organisation has agreed to engage in a detailed analysis of the Ministry's response to the COVID-19 epidemic, with participation of other professional public from the Republic of Serbia.

The WHO Office in Serbia, in cooperation with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, the Institute "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" and a network of institutes of public health, will organise and conduct training for safe behaviour and the implementation of measures to prevent and control the infection in social care institutions.
