Provincial Health Secretary of AP Vojvodina Zoran Gojkovic announced that a total of 7,779 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered until 15.00 today since the last report, while in the last 24 hours seven people have died.
Gojkovic said at a regular press conference at the Palace of Serbia that 5,051 individuals were tested since the last report, of which 296 were positive, while a total of 1,152 patients have been cured so far.
He specified that a total of 3,135 patients were hospitalised, 91 patients are on ventilation, while a total of 59,938 persons were tested who met the case definition criteria, counting from the first case of COVID-19 infection recorded on 6 March.
According to him, seven more have died in the last 24 hours as a result of infection with the virus, with four males and three females, so the total number of deaths since the outbreak of the epidemic is 151.
Gojkovic pointed out that the worst night since the beginning of the crisis was behind us, since seven citizens lost their lives, while the situation improved during the day and no fatalities were recorded this morning.
It is important to point out that for the first time in the last 24 hours, we tested more than 5,000 people, which clearly shows how much the share of all health institutions and state structures has contributed to convincingly test the highest of all in the region, he said.
The Provincial Secretary said that the situation in Novi Sad is very good, while the situation in Belgrade has stabilised, but it is far from ideal, noting that the epidemiological situation in Nis is under control and that the number of tests will be increased in that city.
He emphasised that Negotin is a new focal point, as there have been 26 coronavirus-positive people registered in that city in the last 24 hours.
Deputy Director of the Institute of Public Health of Serbia "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said that in the social welfare institutions and social welfare organisations for the accommodation of users, this virus was confirmed in 531 users and 131 employees today.
Kisic Tepavcevic said that the presence of the virus was detected in 30 institutions of this type, with the total number of cured users of social care institutions amounting to 55, while the recovery of ten employees in these institutions.
