Deputy Director of the Public Health Institute of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut” Darija Kisic Tepavcevic stated that since the last report until 15.00 today 3,563 persons were tested for coronavirus, of whom 207 tested positive.
Kisic Tepavcevic said at a regular coronavirus press briefing at the Palace of Serbia that a total of 3,164 patients have been hospitalized to date and 95 patients are currently on ventilatory support.
Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic in the Republic of Serbia, a total of 54,887 persons who met the criteria of the definition of the case have been tested and the total number of COVID-19 cases in Serbia stands at 7,483, she said.
Over the past 24 hours five more persons died, two men and three women, due to complications caused by this virus.
Coronavirus has so far claimed 144 lives in Serbia, and the death rate is 1.92%.
The total number of patients cured currently stands at 1,094.
Speaking about social care centres and institutions, Kisic Tepavcevic said that 534 residents and 131 staffers tested positive for coronavirus.
This virus has been detected in 31 institutions of social care. A total of 44 residents have been cured to date.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon specified that of a total of 229 patients treated at Clinical Hospital Centre “Dr Dragisa Misovic”, 32 were children, 23 mothers, six babies, of whom three tested positive for coronavirus, seven women awaiting labour, of whom three tested positive, as well as six pregnant women.
Kon said that at today’s session, the Serbian government made a decision on the additional relaxation of COVID-19 restrictive measures, in line with the current epidemiological situation.
Starting from 27 April, the work of green markets in closed space will be allowed, as well as the work of hairdresser’s shops, beauty parlours and fitness centres and gyms.
According to Kon, these facilities must perform work with obligatory use of the protective equipment – masks, gloves and disinfectants.
Kon said that as of next Monday, 27 April, the persons over 65 will be allowed to go for a walk in the duration of one hour, in the time interval from 18.00 to 01.00 and added that intercity transportation will resume operation as of 27 April.
