The Ministry of European Integration announced that healthcare institutions will receive additional assistance in the form of 100 oxygen concentrators, which have arrived in Serbia today as part of the EU assistance package.
These concentrators are intended for oxygen therapy in hospital treatment, reducing the mortality rate from hypoxaemia in patients with COVID-19 diagnosis.
Minister for European Integration and National IPA Coordinator Jadranka Joksimovic emphasized that, as announced in the previous days, in cooperation with the EU Delegation and UNOPS, we continue activities aimed at the procurement of necessary medical equipment and materials, which should ensure the protection of medical workers and the best patient care in healthcare facilities.
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi pointed out that, after masks and triage containers to protect those on the front line of COVID-19, this part of the aid is aimed at reducing the mortality rate among patients with COVID diagnosis, because oxygen is one of the key parts of their therapy.
I am proud of the immediate assistance we provide thanks to the European Union-funded emergency response package for Serbia of €15 million. What we are all looking forward to now is ending this crisis so that Serbia can quickly return to daily life and devote itself to economic recovery, Fabrizi concluded.
