Provincial Health Secretary of AP Vojvodina Zoran Gojkovic said that until 15.00 today a total of 7,276 confirmed cases of infectious disease COVID-19 have been registered to date, while in the last 24 hours five persons died.
Gojkovic said at a regular press conference at the Palace of Serbia that 2,888 people were tested in our country since the last report to date, with 162 laboratory findings positive for coronavirus.
He specified that a total of 3,477 patients have been hospitalized so far, while 96 patients with COVID-19 are on a ventilator.
According to him, in the Republic of Serbia, as of today, a total of 51,324 persons have been tested who met the case definition criteria.
In the last 24 hours, five people have died, four of them male, and one female, said Gojkovic, adding that a total of 139 people have died since the outbreak of the epidemic, and that the total number of cured citizens is 1,063.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon pointed out that, according to the results, Serbia is emerging from the epidemic, excessive situations are becoming less possible, while the activity of the virus itself is decreasing.
The pandemic is moving to the southern hemisphere, where more serious problems are expected due to a poorer health system in that part of the world. Still, there is no relaxation as the return is also expected to the northern part. That means the epidemic could return in the fall, he warned.
Kon stressed that the percentage of patients was the highest in Nis, Jagodina, Cuprija, Paracin and Prokuplje, while in Belgrade that number was slightly above six percent, and in Vojvodina it is coming to zero.
Kon also said that a ban on movement should be in force on 1 May, otherwise we would endanger everything we have done so far, noting that nothing was yet officially discussed.
