Vucic, Mihajlovic visit works on Belgrade-Budapest railway

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic visited today works on the construction of a section of the Belgrade-Budapest fast railway, from Stara Pazova to Novi Sad.

Vucic and Mihajlovic visited works on the construction of the Cortanovci viaduct together with representatives of the Russian railways company RZD International and Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Bocan-Harchenko.

The President of Serbia said that the railway section from Stara Pazova to Novi Sad will be completed by October 2021 and then by train it will be possible to get from Belgrade to Novi Sad in just 25 minutes, and to Vienna in just four hours.

On the Serbian side, there will be no delays in the construction of this road, he said, answering the question of whether works on the railway will be accelerated in Hungary and whether he recently discussed the project with the Prime Minister of that country, Viktor Orban.

Hungary is our sincere friend and they had understanding for us in every difficult situation and vice versa, Vucic said.

He pointed out that the Cortanovci tunnel is 1.1 kilometer long and the viaduct that goes along the Danube is three kilometers long.

Speaking about the possibility of the Serbian parliament calling a session and discussing the situation caused by the coronavirus, the President stressed that the session could be held on Monday or Tuesday, but that epidemiological measures would have to be respected in any case, as well as the arrival of as few police officers as possible. and administrative workers to the parliament.
