EPS workers preserved Serbia’s power supply stability

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic and Director of the state power utility company "Electric Power Industry of Serbia" (EPS) Milorad Grcic celebrated Easter today with workers at the Drmno surface mine in Kostolac and expressed their gratitude to the workers for the tremendous effort they have made during the state of emergency.

Antic pointed out that EPS workers maintained the country's power supply stability, which is the basis for the functioning of the entire country.

Organising the system in such a way so that around 20,000 people participate in the production of coal and electricity every day, who come to work, with all the prescribed protective measures, to keep production running smoothly, is a supreme effort and a great result, the Minister said.

According to him, in this period we have shown that the state is functioning in full capacity and is fighting in an exceptional way against the virus which has stopped the whole world.

Today, we have improved production to more than 450,000 tonnes against the previous year. We will do our best to continue such a trend. Mining and energy will continue to have a certain level of growth in 2020 and we will strongly support the state's efforts to recover the economy as soon as possible, Antic said.

Grcic pointed out that miners are always in the most difficult times an example of how to help the state, how to defend the state and how that is done despite difficult circumstances.
