Provincial Health Secretary of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Zoran Gojkovic stated that since the last report until 15.00 today a total of 3,462 persons were tested, of whom 304 tested positive for coronavirus, while seven more persons died.
Speaking at a regular coronavirus press briefing at the Palace of Serbia, Gojkovic said that a total of 3,853 persons have been hospitalized to date,126 are on ventilatory support and a total of 637 persons have been cured.
The total number of tests made in Serbia is 36,028.
Of the seven persons that died in the last 24 hours, four were men and three women.
Serbia’s total tally of coronavirus cases since the beginning of the epidemic is 5,994, of whom 117 people died. The death rate currently stands at 1.95%, Gojkovic added.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, 6,795 health workers have been tested for coronavirus, of whom 642 tested positive.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon underlined that the virus is getting weaker and that relaxation of measures should now be discussed.
He noted that after the holiday, movement will be allowed to the elderly citizens who have been in strict home isolation for over 30 days.
He warned however that the situation is not the same in all parts of Serbia and that there are more coronavirus cases in the regions of Nis, Prokuplje and Aleksinac than in other parts of the country.
In contrast, in Belgrade there have been just 6.2% positive cases of all those tested, which is showing that the virus’ potential is decreasing there. In Jagodina though, 20.4% persons were positive for coronavirus of all those tested.
According to him, the number of those infected has also dropped significantly in Vojvodina, which means that measures should be relaxed.
