First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic received a letter of appreciation from the Republic of Austria, sent by Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg.
Schallenberg expressed gratitude to our country for allowing a group of 20 Austrian citizens, 16 Serbian citizens living in Austria and citizens from other EU member states to return to their homes on 1 April by Air Serbia flight from Belgrade to Vienna.
For our part, we are pleased to be able to assist with the return of Serbian citizens from Lima and Sydney to Europe and we are ready to continue to assist, whenever possible, in the coming days and weeks, the Austrian Minister said.
He stressed that Austria also strongly supports additional European Union initiatives in providing concrete, meaningful assistance to all countries in the region affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
I am pleased that the European Union has announced the first comprehensive aid package worth €93.4 million in the form of donations, together with a number of crucial non-financial assistance measures, Schallenberg concluded.
