Kisic Tepavcevic said at a regular press conference in the Palace of Serbia that 2,684 patients have been hospitalised to date, 146 patients are on the ventilator, and a total of 18,312 have been tested.
She noted that six more died in the last 24 hours as a result of infection, including three males and three females, with an average age of 57.5.
In our country, 80 people have died since the outbreak of the epidemic, and the mortality rate at the moment is 2.2%, Kisic Tepavcevic added.
New focal points were registered – Kovin and Pancevo, where the general hospital was transformed into a COVID-19 hospital, which accommodates 150 patients, most of whom are not from Pancevo, she said.
We are controlling the spread of the infection, but we must be aware that collective immunity is built by the working-age population, where there is the highest number of patients, she said.
According to her, the level of collective immunity required is between 60 and 70%, which means that the virus has to weaken so much that it becomes harmless, that in most cases it does not represent a danger, even for the elderly and persons with chronic diseases.
At the same time, she confirmed that it is justified to allow parents of children with autism to take their children for a walk and to set terms for such categories of citizens.
Kisic Tepavcevic also referred to the procedure for persons who came from abroad, explaining that after the expiration of the period of 28-day in quarantine, if they did not have symptoms, they could return to daily life activities.
Director of the Belgrade Infectious Diseases Clinic Goran Stevanovic said that approximately 400 people have been cured so far, who had two negative tests.
According to him, the percentage of cured patients, i.e., those for whom the need for artificial ventilation has ceased is still small because the process itself takes a long time, but there are patients who have been successfully cured and they are mostly young and without associated diseases.
