Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said at a regular coronavirus press briefing at the Palace of Serbia that 292 new cases have been registered in Serbia out of a total of 1, 192 persons tested in the last 24 hours.
Kon said that a total tally of coronavirus cases in Serbia is 2,200 out of a total of 8,552 persons tested.
He said that a total of 1, 197 persons are hospitalised, of whom 101 are on ventilatory support.
Seven more persons died in the last 24 hours, four women and three men and their average age is 64.5. Serbia’s coronavirus death toll at the moment is 58.
All the patients that died had pre-existing conditions that contributed to the fatal outcome.
Kon warned that coronavirus entered the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje“ where out of 257 persons tested 67 tested positive. He underlined that the entry of the virus into health centres must be restrained fast.
He confirmed that 13 residents and 1 staffer at the “Stara Pruga” nursing home at Umka are infected with coronavirus, of whom 12 have no simptoms at all and one person has been transferred to the Infectious Diseases Clinic.
Kon specified that the greatest number of coronavirus cases are in Belgrade - 846, Nis 90, Novi Sad 86, Curpija 83, Valjevo 59, Krusevac 55, Cacak 32, Leskovac 30, Kragujevac 28, Paracin 27, Vranje and Zajecar 25 each, Jagodina 24, Pancevo 22, Novi Pazar 21, Surdulica 19, Subotica 16, Uzice 15, Pozarevac 13, Kraljevo 12 and Kosovska Mitrovica and Pirot 11 each.
All other towns in the country have less than ten infected persons.
Deputy Director of the Public Health Institute “Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut” Darija Kisic-Tepavcevic said that a total of 868 health workers have been tested, of whom 160 tested positive for coronavirus, which accounts for 8.38 percent of the total number of coronavirus cases in Serbia.
