Epidemiologist Predrag Kon stated at a regular press conference at the Palace of Serbia that 284 new coronavirus cases have been identified in the last 24 hours.
Seven more persons died, five men and two women and their average age is 64.2.
Kon said that a total of 1,908 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed to date. Since the last report, 959 people have been tested, of whom 284 tested positive for coronavirus. The total number of deaths rose to 51.
A total of 1,082 patients are hospitalised, 98 of whom are on ventilatory support, he said and added that 88 patients are at the temporary hospital at the Belgrade Fairgrounds.
Until now, a total of 7, 360 persons have been tested in Serbia.
Kon stated that 46 medical workers at the Narodni Front hospital in Belgrade tested positive for coronavirus, and that one patient out of six tested at the Clinical Hospital Centre Bezanijska kosa, at the Haematology Department, tested positive.
Deputy Director of the Public Health Institute "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" Darija Kisic-Tepavcevic stated that at the General Hospital in Valjevo, which has 1,241 health workers, 11 workers tested positive, and 180 are in isolation at home.
She reported that at the hospital in Cuprija, which has 880 employees, 40 health workers tested positive for coronavirus, seven of whom are hospitalised.
Kisic-Tepavcevic reported that people in certain ministries that went down with coronavirus are in stable condition and underlined that this disease knows no boundaries and that everyone who is exposed to the virus can get infected.
