Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic announced that the Institute for Biocides and Medical Ecology will be fully ready to start PCR testing for coronavirus tomorrow.
Together with President of the Belgrade City Assembly Nikola Nikodijevic and City Council member Slobodan Solevic, Antic attended the delivery of 11 new vehicles to the Institute for the purpose of disinfection of institutions and public spaces of importance in the fight against coronavirus.
The Institute has two excellent PCR machines, an exceptional team of people capable of doing the job. Tests and reagents have arrived in the past few days, and we expect tomorrow the first laboratory analyses and testing on COVID-19, the Minister said.
According to him, the daily capacity of this institute is 144 tests, or approximately 1,000 tests per week, which will significantly increase the total testing capacity of Serbia.
The Institute of Biocides and Medical Ecology, which has received permission to hire an additional 60 people, has 85 employees, who disinfect all key areas of vital interest for both the Republic and the City of Belgrade.
