Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar announced today that 659 people have been infected with coronavirus in our country, with two new deaths reported due to the infection of this virus.
Loncar said at a regular press conference at the Palace of Serbia that a total of 371 people have been tested in the past 24 hours, and that the result was positive for 131 cases.
He specified that there are currently 334 people on hospital treatment, 49 of whom are using the ventilator, with nine patients in a very serious condition.
The Minister said that new deaths were recorded at the Infectious Diseases Clinic, where a woman died, as well as in Nis, where a man (b. 1957) died.
Loncar said that two patients also had more chronic illnesses.
He reiterated that citizens need to understand that all contacts must be kept to a minimum, and announced that the ban on movement would be extended during the weekends.
He assessed that it is unacceptable that in the current circumstances, despite all the appeals of the competent bodies, there are so many people on the streets of Belgrade.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon warned that there is a steep increase in the number of patients in our country, and reiterated that contacts must be stopped, even rigorously if necessary.
Kon said that what is happening now had never happened, that the state is firmly behind what the doctors say, i.e., reduction of contacts and staying indoors.
So far, the most rigorous measures are not being adopted, but they will be introduced if necessary, he said.
