Mihajlovic addressed letters to Jernej Vrtovec, Minister of Infrastructure of Slovenia, and Oleg Butkovic, Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of Croatia, noting that about 300 trucks are waiting at the exit from Serbia to Croatia, while 100 Serbian trucks are at the entrance to Slovenia from Italy.
She expressed her gratitude to the line ministers for their correct cooperation when it comes to the flow of all types of traffic in these difficult conditions, but also indicated that the reduced number of border crossings for road transport in transit creates huge truck columns and long waiting times at the borders.
According to her, it is necessary to open more crossings for international freight transit and provide transit corridors without convoys. This is not only a matter of humanity but also of security, she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that in this situation all vehicles, regardless of their plates, are important, because they bring and take goods to citizens in all countries, and that it is important to accelerate the flow of goods through joint activities, abolish transit convoys and make it easier for drivers.
At a time when the EU is doing everything it can to speed up transport, by introducing green vehicle corridors, I suggest that we, together with the ministers of the interior, find a sustainable solution for faster transport between our countries so that trucks in transit can pass faster and drivers do not gather in one place in large numbers, which is currently the goal of the whole of Europe, she concluded.
