Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, in consultation with President, has decided to enable pension payments for citizens with special powers or through delivery.
Starting on Tuesday, 24 March, citizens who have not previously authorised anyone to collect their pensions can do so with a special authorisation for a person who, in their name and for their account, will be able to collect the pension amount with the pensioner’s identity card.
Authorisation must be drawn while maintaining a safe distance of two metres at all times and hands must be sanitised after the delivery of the pension. A sample of the authorisation was issued by the National Bank of Serbia, but it can also be drawn up in a free form, with mandatory indication of the personal data of the pensioner and the authorised person, current account number, the name of the bank and the amount paid (in numbers and letters). The authorisation must be signed in order to be accepted.
All pensioners who do not authorise another person to collect their pension should call the contact telephone number of the bank in which they have a current account and state the address and the amount they wish to be paid, and the Post of Serbia will hand over the pensions under the urgent procedure.
Banks will also contact these customers independently through a contact centre or SMS message starting today, 24 March, to help retirees know as soon as possible how the payment will be carried out. The National Bank of Serbia has issued detailed instructions for banks' actions in the payment of pensions in the current situation.
The full cost of the delivery will be borne by the Republic of Serbia, so that the pensioners will not incur additional expenses due to the new situation caused by COVID-19.
The Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior will be available to the Post of Serbia officers during the distribution of pensions.
Also, all retirees who hold payment cards can hand them over to a trusted person to make a purchase for their needs.
