Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar announced that a total of 303 cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered in our country by 15.00 today.
At a regular press conference at the Serbian government, Loncar pointed out that 94 people have been tested since the last report, 54 of whom tested positive and 40 negative for the novel coronavirus.
He said that of the 54 confirmed cases, 27 were hospitalised, while 27 will stay at home.
The national reference laboratory of the Torlak Institute, has so far tested a total of 916 persons who meet the case definition criteria, he added.
Loncar specified that eight respiratory patients are at the Infectious Disease Clinic in Belgrade, five in Nis, four in Novi Sad and Kragujevac each, while the total number of patients undergoing hospital treatment is 152.
We have a total of 303 patients positive to corona virus, except that we have not counted the 15 patients who have been cured by this time and have been released to go home. They have good laboratory findings and two tests are negative, the Minister explained.
He recalled that yesterday, in consultation with Chinese doctors, a decision was made to switch to a new method of fighting the coronavirus in two days, which involves testing more people.
According to him, an order has already been issued to all health centres that they will need to have one facility each, where they will have to have an x-ray and a laboratory apparatus in order to check the blood count, where all patients need to be tested.
Epidemiologists will determine who should come to the health centre to be tested in designated rooms, Loncar explained, pointing out that Chinese experts are now visiting the premises as special conditions are required.
