Repeated call to Serbian diaspora not to come to Serbia

Belgrade, 19 March 2020

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated that the government is in daily sitting and that at least two sessions will be held today at which new ad hoc measures, dependant on the current situation, will be passed.

In a statement to Television Prva, Dacic said that the aim of the measures adopted so far is to avoid casualties and added that in the anticipation of the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, measures are also being taken in Europe to limit the movement, close borders and halt the international air and road traffic.

He underlined that all stringent measures have been taken in order to protect public health, and that China, which he visited recently while the situation in Europe was still relatively calm and safe, has given recommendations to everyone how to fight this vicious disease.

Unfortunately, despite daily appeals from all Serbian officials to the Serbian diaspora that they do not come to Serbia, that is exactly what happened, Dacic said and announced new government measures, given that the situation is changing minute by minute.

Dacic called once again on Serbian citizens in the diaspora not to come to Serbia and recalled that a crisis response team has been formed, whose task is to provide assistance to the people who are stuck abroad, but underlined that this applies to urgent cases only.
