First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic spoke today with Foreign Minister of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis over the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Dacic conveyed expressions of solidarity and support for the citizens of Switzerland, expressing confidence that the country would successfully overcome this difficult period.
He said that one of the measures the Serbian government is taking to prevent the spread of the virus and protect the population also relates to a ban, that is, a restriction on entry into Serbia for Swiss nationals from Canton Ticino, which is most affected by the virus.
Dacic expressed his hope that Switzerland, as well as the minister himself, as a doctor, would have an understanding of such decisions by the Serbian government, given the danger of uncontrolled spread of the virus.
Cassis expressed gratitude for the invitation and support of Serbia in these difficult times and offered assistance to Serbia.
Bearing in mind the number of the Serbian nationals living in Switzerland and the upcoming holidays, the minister asked if the ban on entering Serbia applies to them.
Dacic responded that the ban does not apply to our citizens, but noted that the government advised the Serbian nationals not to come to Serbia from the areas most affected by the virus until the epidemic is over.
