Vucic said at an extraordinary press conference after a meeting of top state officials and representatives of all relevant institutions that 12 people in Serbia were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.
Everything we said at the first press conference, pointing to the need for a responsible approach, but given the call for citizens not to panic, proved to be fully justified, the President said.
He specified that, thanks to the measures introduced, from 11 January to 10 March, the surveillance covered about 71,000 passengers, 2,234 vehicles were completely inspected, excluding cars and including 1,925 aircraft.
Also, as he pointed out, 265 passengers were placed under medical supervision.
According to him, 62 inspectors were hired at ten border crossings, three airports and seven land crossings and readiness was introduced for smaller border crossings from Bosnia-Herzegovina, with a total of 26 passengers returned from Batrovci yesterday.
This is an example of how responsibly the civil services do their jobs and keep things under control, Vucic emphasised, expressing gratitude to all our doctors and medical staff for their dedicated work.
Vucic said that the meeting was decided to a ban on indoor gatherings, except where there are less than a hundred people, and said that there is no point in banning outdoor gatherings, and that there is no reason to suspend classes in schools for the time being.
We need solidarity and unity, and the Serbian people have always been able to show that, he said, expressing his belief that the virus-related situation will improve once it got warmer.
According to him, the control of temporary border crossings will be strengthened and some of those crossings will be closed for sanitary reasons.
