Today, in the presence of President of the Republic of Serbia Alexander Vucic, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and members of the Presidency of BiH, the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway was officially celebrated at the bridge over the Sava River in Sremska Raca.

The ceremony, at which the presidents of Serbia and Turkey and members of the BiH Presidency – Zeljko Komsic, Milorad Dodik and Sefik Dzaferovic, laid the cornerstone, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic and Defence Minister Alexander Vulin.
At the ceremony, Vucic emphasised that today's commencement of the works is a historical event, important for the whole region, because this road starts connecting, opening and merging this space.
Erdogan stressed that today is a historic moment for Serbia, BiH and Turkey, saying that the only goal of that country is to restore peace and prosperity in the Balkans.
A contract for the design and construction of the first section of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway, from Kuzmin to Sremska Raca, worth € 250 million, was signed 10 months ago.
