Review of athletes' medals

Yugoslavia, 3 March 2004

Montenegro and Serbia have won a combined total of 110 medals at the Summer Olympic Games - 31 gold, 40 silver and 39 bronze. Athletes were the most successful at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when they won 18 medals.

UN Sanctions Committee did not allow Yugoslav teams (for example, water polo team, reigning Olympic, world and European champions) to appear at the Olympics in Barcelona 1992. That is why all medals were won by individual athletes.

NOTES

1. Athletes participated in the Olympic team of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. 2. Athletes participated in the Olympic team of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. 3. Athletes participated in the Olympic team of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia/Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. 4. Due to UN Sanctions, athletes took part as Independent Olympic Participants (IOP). 5. Athletes participated in the Olympic team of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. 6. Athletes participated in the Olympic team of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. 7. Athletes participated in the Olympic team of the Republic of Serbia.
