Keqiang was delivered the Charter by Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali and President of the Belgrade City Hall Nikola Nikodijevic at a ceremony at the Belgrade City Hall, attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and representatives of state and city authorities.
Mali said that this is a special moment for the city of Belgrade and Serbia, which will be recorded in history of our country.
Belgrade has been a link between the East and the West for centuries, and today it is a bridge where they meet. The Charter confirms the long tradition of good relations between the two countries and their peoples, Mali stated.
He recalled that Belgrade and Beijing have a cooperation agreement that was signed in 1980 and announced that next year, on the occasion of the anniversary of signing of the document, he will visit Beijing at the invitation of his counterpart.
The Belgrade Mayor thanked the Premier of China for the fact that Belgrade was the host this year of the Third Summit of Heads of Government of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and underlined that Serbia and its capital are determined to seize the opportunities given to them.
On 28 November this year, the Belgrade City Assembly declared China's premier an honorary citizen of the Serbian capital.
This decision was made because the Premier of China has given a significant contribution to improving overall cooperation between the institutions of China and Serbia.
