Belgrade/London, Jan 26, 2009 –Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac and British Minister of State for the Armed Forces Bob Ainsworth signed an agreement on defence cooperation and training for Serbian Army personnel in the UK.
Sutanovac expressed his assurance that the cooperation between the two countries can be upgraded at many levels, which is of strategic interest to both Serbia and the UK.
Aside from the problems of the past and the problems we are facing today regarding Kosovo-Metohija, we wish to seek solutions, Sutanovac stressed and recalled that the tradition of cooperation between the two countries is long.
Both sides expressed wish to continue that cooperation, said Sutanovac and invited Ainsworth to visit Serbia in September.
Ainsworth said that Serbia has made good progress towards becoming a member of the European family.
He also noted that the defence agreement will encourage the two armies to work together and learn from each other.
Sutanovac visited Westminster Abbey in London, where he laid a wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.
