At a ceremony organised to mark the 15th anniversary of the implementation of this programme, Stanković emphasised that the past decade and a half has been a time of trust, friendship and the great idea that knowledge can connect people.
According to him, during that period, more than 2,000 students from the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement obtained university degrees at Serbian faculties.
He specified that young people from 67 countries are studying in Serbia, and that every student who completes their studies in Serbia becomes an ambassador for the country.
Stanković pointed out that approximately 650 students are currently studying in Serbia under this programme, and that the government has launched another cycle of programme implementation.
He stated that a competition has been announced for scholarships and that new scholarships have been offered for learning the Serbian language in the 2026/2027 academic year, as well as for enrolment in higher education institutions founded by the Republic of Serbia in the 2027/2028 academic year.
He stated that the Ministry of Education provides all scholarship recipients with free education at state universities, preparatory Serbian language classes, as well as accommodation and meals in student dormitories and dining facilities.
A monthly stipend in the amount of RSD 18,000, health insurance and free recognition of previously acquired diplomas and educational certificates have also been provided.
