Demographic resilience one of Serbia’s key priorities

The meeting in Skopje, held on the sidelines of the Regional Ministerial Conference on Demographic Resilience, organised by the UNFPA, also addressed the strengthening of families and the creation of long-term measures contributing to demographic stability and the resilience of society.
Žarić Kovačević emphasised that partnership with this UN agency is of great importance for the development of modern demographic policies and the improvement of citizens’ quality of life.
During the talks, Serbia’s strong commitment to issues of demographic development and demographic resilience was highlighted.
The interlocutors also discussed progress in drafting the Demographic Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia for the 2026-2036 period, with projections up to 2050, with the UNFPA providing support through the engagement of local experts, as well as through the application of regional and global knowledge and experience in the field of demography.
