State Secretary of the Ministry Damjan Jović, who is coordinating this operation, stated that representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had arrived in Riyadh, from where further evacuations are planned.
He explained that an evacuation flight is scheduled to be organised from Doha tomorrow for Serbian citizens who were in these countries at the time of the outbreak of the conflict.
Jović pointed out that the operation is extremely demanding both logistically and materially, since the evacuation is being carried out from several countries, with organised transport to Doha, from where the citizens will be transferred to Belgrade.
The national airline Air Serbia is unable to fly to this zone due to the inability to provide insurance, the State Secretary stated, adding that the Serbian government has secured a charter flight from Qatar Airways for the return of citizens to the country.
According to him, a journey of several hours through the Saudi desert is planned during the night, after which the passengers will meet with groups arriving from Kuwait and Bahrain at the border with Qatar, and then continue together to the airport in Doha, from where a flight to Belgrade is expected in the afternoon.
Jović noted that the diplomatic and consular missions of Serbia in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been working continuously in recent days to register citizens who wish to leave these countries, praising their dedication and professionalism.
