This is another evacuation flight organised for our citizens who found themselves in the Middle East, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by State Secretary Damjan Jović, travelled to the UAE yesterday morning to coordinate the process and provide the necessary assistance to our citizens.
Upon landing in Dubai, Jović pointed out that, on the instructions of the President of the Republic and the Government of Serbia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the company Air Serbia continue to evacuate Serbian citizens from war-torn areas in the Middle East.
According to him, by opening safe air corridors to the United Arab Emirates, our national airline Air Serbia has become one of the first in the world to implement an evacuation flight.
So far, only companies from the United Arab Emirates have flown on this route. These flights have already evacuated several hundred of Serbian citizens, he said.
The State Secretary said that more flights will be organised in the coming days because there is great interest from our citizens who are stranded in the UAE and neighbouring countries.
He stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the national airline, continues to work on the evacuation of our citizens from Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, which will be carried out via Riyadh and the UAE on evacuation flights to Belgrade in the coming days.
Serbian Ambassador to the UAE Vladimir Marić stressed that our citizens in that country number in the thousands and that the organisation of new flights will continue, adding that a second special flight is expected by the end of the week.
