Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković spoke in Paris with Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, about improving our country's cooperation with that international organisation.
Selaković emphasised that Serbia is committed to the principles and priorities of UNESCO, as well as to the implementation of common goals and initiatives within the UN, while Azoulay highly rated our country's activities and commitment to the Organisation's goals.
He informed Director Azoulay of the challenges and dangers faced by the Serbian people, as well as the Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, which is continuously exposed to destruction, desecration and falsification, and warned of the escalation of unilateral moves by Pristina directed against education, culture, and the very survival of the Serbian people in the province.
At the meeting, it was also pointed out the importance of the nomination of Kovačić's naïve painting as part of the priority of protecting the intangible cultural heritage.
