Serbia will chair GPAI for next three years

Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic announced today that our country will chair the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) in the next three years, in the first and third assistant chairman in the second year, and main chairman in the second year.

Begovic pointed out that this is a great honor for Serbia and an opportunity to show the whole world that new technologies occupy an important place in our society and that as a country we have recognized their importance and invested enough funds so that our experts in the field of artificial intelligence can stand side by side with world experts.

According to her, these three years will represent a chance to further improve our status in this field in the world, as well as to cooperate with the best.

The Minister repeated that this is of incredible importance for our country in terms of its presence in the global trends of artificial intelligence development.

GPAI is an initiative that aims to establish global standards and rules for the development of artificial intelligence, as well as to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence globally. It was founded in 2020, on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The secretariat of GPAI is with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the expert centers are in Montreal and Paris, while a new one will be opened in Japan.
