At the ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the Department for Emergency Situations, the Minister praised the members of this sector, their dedication and courage, which they showed during every task in Serbia and outside the borders of our country.
Our rescue teams, who helped during the unprecedented disasters this year in Turkey and Greece, brightened the image of our country, whose name, and because of your selfless, 24-hour help, is only mentioned for good deeds and heroism, the Minister and emphasised that the efficiency, dexterity and speed of crucial importance for saving human lives in dramatic and dangerous situations.
According to him, for these reasons, the Ministry will continue to provide the best conditions for work, equipment and vehicles to the members of the Department for Emergency Situations in the coming period.
Acting Assistant Minister and Head of the Department for Emergency Situations Luka Causic pointed out that today is the Day of the Department for Emergency Situations, but also that it is a holiday of humanity, nobility, solidarity and courage.
He specified that since the establishment of the Department for Emergency Situations on 17 September 2009, as of yesterday, firefighters and rescuers had 434,003 interventions and saved 29,702 people.
At the ceremony, golden plaques and badges were presented to members of the Department for Emergency Situations, who in the last year stood out for their courage and achieved results.
