Before the official opening, Vucic pointed out that the construction of this road and the opening of this section are important for the expansion of industrial zones, attracting foreign investors and the development of the region.
According to him, Krusevac, as the eighth largest city in Serbia, will gain a lot from this, as well as Cicevac, Varvarin, Trstenik, as well as all those who go to Kopaonik, Vrnjacka Banja, Kraljevo.
It is the first "smart" road in our country, built with a complete optical infrastructure. The Morava Corridor, from Pojate to Preljina, will be the most modern and widest motorway in Serbia, since it will be wider than existing motorways by a total of 1.6 metres.
The construction of the 112-kilometre Morava Corridor began in December 2019. The works are performed by a consortium of US Bechtel and Turkish Enka, and the contract is worth close to €800 million.
Also, the Morava Corridor will permanently solve the issue of floods, as the river flows in this part of Serbia, primarily Juzna Morava and Zapadna Morava rivers, will be regulated.
