The European Commission’s positive decision on the Feasibility Study for Serbia-Montenegro represents an important step in getting closer to EU membership.
The government bears big responsibility in making many decisions – some of them are strategic, long-term decisions, and some are direct, everyday decisions. For this reason, it is very important when the EU passes such recognition of the government’s many moves and decisions. This recognition also represents a certificate of credibility of the government’s work.
For all citizens of Serbia, this is a confirmation that we are on the right track, which will bring great obligations to improve our country and to prepare it for full membership in the EU, which is in this moment the key task of the responsible government in Serbia.
In the field of health protection, European regulations do accept local unique features of every European country when it comes to the organisation of their citizens’ health protection. However, there are areas in which EU guidelines require accurate adjustment, such as food safety, medicines, patients’ rights, and the protection from contagious diseases.
The positive feasibility study represents an important step, as it will speed up our adjustment to stringent demands in the field of health protection, health system reforms, and the introduction of more rigid standards in the quality of health protection and the funding of a sustainable health system.
The Ministry’s activities have always been directed to making sure that each move is in line with the adjustment to stringent European standards.
