The 2016 European Water Polo Championships will be held in Belgrade from 10 to 23 January.
A total of 100 matches will be played in the men's and women's competition and 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams will take part in the championships.
All 100 matches of the European Championships, in which Serbia in the men's category wants to win the third consecutive gold, will be played in a makeshift swimming pool in Kombank Arena which has received all praise from the professional and the general public.
On the first evening of the competition, a record of the European water polo championships was broken.
Namely, the European federation of water sports (LEN) has confirmed that the match between the men’s teams of Serbia and Croatian was watched by as many as 11,000 spectators.
According to a statement by LEN, water polo has been raised to a new level after 11,000 fans packed Kombank Arena, which is the highest attendance in the history of European championships.
