Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic
Minister of Education
She was born in 1951 in Raca. She completed elementary school and high school in Kragujevac, and the Faculty of Medicine, master's and doctoral studies and specialisation in neuropsychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.
In seven mandates, she was a deputy in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Federal Parliament of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
In the Transitional Government of the Republic of Serbia, she was the Minister for Family Care and a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
She served as Chair of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia from 2008 to 2012. She was also the acting president of Serbia from the beginning of April to the end of May 2012.
From 2012 to 2014, she was the Minister of Health.
She spent most of her career as a full professor, head of the Department of Psychiatry and vice-rector for international cooperation at the University of Kragujevac. Since 1982, he has been teaching "Psychiatry" at the Faculty of Medicine in Kragujevac. She was the youngest female doctor of medical sciences in Sumadija and the founder of the Day Psychiatric Hospital.
She served as the director of the Clinical Hospital Centre in Kragujevac from 1993 to 2000, and from 2014 to 2016 she was the director of the Clinic for Psychiatric Diseases "Dr. Laza Lazarevic" in Belgrade.
From August 2016 to October 2020, she served as a minister without portfolio in charge of demography and population policy.
Since October 2020, she has held the position of Special Advisor to the government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of implementing the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030.
She is a member of the Association of Psychiatrists of Serbia, and she served as the president of this association for two terms.
She has been a member of the Socialist Party of Serbia since its foundation.
Married, mother of one son.
