He was born on 1 January 1966 in Prizren. He attended the Stevan Sremac high school in Nis. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, with a grade point average of 10 (ten).

 

In 1992 he was elected MP in the Federal Assembly of the FRY, and in 2004 he was also elected MP in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. He was Minister of Information in the Interim Government of Serbia in 2000. He has been President of the Socialist Party of Serbia since 2006.

 

He was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior from July 2008 to July 2012. He served as Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior from July 2012 to April 2014. Since April 2014, he has been the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to date. In 2015, he was the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

 

He has several decades of experience and results achieved in participation and management in various executive and legislative bodies in the Republic of Serbia.

 

He was awarded the “Best European” award in 2009, the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation in 2018 and the Statue of Captain Misa Anastasijevic in 2018.

 

His hobby is music. He held the functions of President of BC "Partizan" from Belgrade, Vice President of the Yugoslav Olympic Committee and President of the Sports Association of Serbia.
