British Prime Minister Tony Blair has sent a letter to Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica condemning violence in Kosovo-Metohija and calling for the restoration of peace in the province.
Recent developments have affected all residents of Kosovo-Metohija and reminded the world that peace and stability have not yet been secured in the region, the letter said.
The letter highlights the importance of the Serbia-Montenegrin Supreme Defence Council's decision to take every security measure to improve cooperation with international forces. It goes on to say that the upcoming period will be both a challenge for the new government and an opportunity to team up with the international community in joint efforts to resolve the future of Kosovo-Metohija.
The British Prime Minister said that the UK is ready to help protect the rights of the Serb minority in the province and restore security in Kosovo-Metohija, stressing that the UK has sent additional troops to reinforce KFOR.
