Dragutinovic recalled that the reconstruction of the border crossing with Bosnia-Herzegovina began last August, adding that over RSD 180 million was invested in it, of which RSD 20 million was donated by the former European Agency for Reconstruction and the current European Commission delegation to Serbia, while the rest of the funds were secured by the Customs Administration.
The Minister noted that the border crossing now has five lanes, vertical and horizontal signalization and video surveillance.
Charge d’Affairs of the European Commission delegation to Serbia Jacques Stakenborg stressed that regional cooperation and the stability of the Western Balkans is of great importance to the EU.
An integrated border management system is indispensable to the abolishment of the visa regime, explained Stakenborg, adding that efficient international traffic movement along Corridor 10 is crucial both to Serbia and to other countries in the region.
He recalled that the EU has assisted in the modernisation of class A border crossings in Serbia, i.e. Horgos, Presevo and Batrovci, adding that the reconstruction of the railway border crossing on Corridor 10 near Dimitrovgrad is underway.
The EU is taking part in 18 projects in the Sremska Mitrovica region, whose total worth exceeds €21 million.
Also present at the opening in Sremska Raca were director of the Customs Administration Predrag Petronijevic and State Secretary of Finance Miodrag Djidic.
